This is what usually is required when you install a fresh copy of Centos 6.x or Fedora.

  •  Selinux disable

vi /etc/selinux/config

SELINUX=disabled

setenforce 0

  •   Changing Hostname

vi /etc/sysconfig/network

NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=mail.noc.com

  •  Setting up Static IP

ifconfig to get HWADDR and change it accordingly

vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

DEVICE=”eth1″
HWADDR=”08:00:27:E2:84:38″
NM_CONTROLLED=”yes”
ONBOOT=”yes”
IPADDR=192.168.1.140
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1

vi /etc/resolv.conf (for namesevrer)

nameserver 192.168.1.1

  • Add additional repos

wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-7.noarch.rpm
wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-6.rpm
sudo rpm -Uvh remi-release-6*.rpm epel-release-6*.rpm

enable it from /etc/yum.repos.d/remi.repo epel.repo

  • Iptables rules flush:

Flush automatic rule loading

> /etc/sysconfig/iptables

  • reboot to apply changes
